VOICE TEACHER

Helping others to use their unique voices more flexibly, healthy, and artistically is one of the great joys of my life.  I have taught virtually all voice types, ages, and skill levels. Each student and lesson I give teaches me something new about this craft.  

Applied Voice

 

Assistant Professor of Voice, University of Nebraska-Lincoln Glenn Korff School of Music, 2021-present

  • Instruct undergraduate and graduate level applied voice lessons

  • Instruct diction classes (German, English & Italian, and Graduate Review)

  • Research and Service components

  • Direct and perform in Opera Workshop class

  • Perform in recitals and productions both on and off campus

 

Assistant Professor and Coordinator of Voice, College of Saint Rose, Albany, NY, 2017-present

  • Instruct private voice students in BM Performance, Bachelor of Arts, Music Education, Music Industry degree programs, and non-majors (10-16 per semester)

  • Instruct Repertoire Class, Vocal Pedagogy, Vocal Diction, Vocal Literature, Advanced Vocal Diction, Motown Ensemble, Musical Theatre Workshop, Opera Workshop, Beyoncé Ensemble, and Mixed Vocal & Instrumental Chamber Ensemble (approximately 5 courses per semester)

  • Coordinate juries, pianists, studio placements, and administrative issues for all 10-12 voice studios and 110-150 voice majors

  • Stage direct, produce, and/or music direct musical theatre and opera productions

  • Serve on departmental and school committees, including as the Music Department Representative for the college’s Inclusivity Advisory Board

  • Lead development of voice related syllabi and curriculum

 

Guest Instructor, Southern Arkansas University, Magnolia, Arkansas, 2021

  • Co-teaching three week rotation of Musical Theatre Performance class, creating detailed performances and refining audition books through coachings and group classes

 

Instructor of Musical Theatre-Voice, University of North Dakota, Grand Forks, ND, 2015-2017

  • Guided technical and artistic development of all Musical Theatre BFAs in classical through contemporary vocal styles, prepared students for juries, auditions, and performances

  • Conducted weekly studio classes, including performance master classes, yoga for singers, audition cut workshops, and lectures on vocal health and practice techniques

  • Co-taught and accompanied Musical Theatre Acting courses  

  • Develop and instruct new specialized musicianship, vocal pedagogy, and vocal styles courses for theatre majors

  • Developed and produced statewide themed cabaret tours each spring with all Musical Theatre BFAs, performing in up to 16 high schools and venues across North Dakota

 

Adjunct Lecturer of Applied Voice, Berea College, Berea, KY, 2014-2015

  • Taught undergraduate music and non-music majors of all voice types (SATB, countertenor, and transitioning transgender voices)

  • Prepared students for upcoming performances, juries, and recitals

  • Team-taught weekly performance master classes for students of all voice studios
